Whether you are a concerned parent or an eager teenager that is looking to find ways to get his parents to let him apply for a driver's permit you’ve come to the right place! At Bridgeport Driving School we have helped hundreds and hundreds of teenagers get ready to take their permit test. The actual test itself is usually just a two-part test that consists of a written exam and a part where you will have to exhibit your actual driving skills to an evaluator. You can just walk into the DMV and take these test and be done with it. You know forcefully have to take a driver’s ed course.
Do I Have To Attend A Driving School?
We are not here to try to fool anybody. Especially since information these days is literally one click away. You don’t necessarily have to attend a drivers ed course given by a licensed school to be able to be eligible for a learner’s permit. You could take the course from home and have a legal guardian sign off on the “training” hours that you need to cover to be able to apply for the permit at the DMV.
Why Do We Recommend Attending A Certified Driving School?
Obviously teaching teens how to drive and preparing them for this test is what we do as a business so we are totally biased. That being said, we are in constant contact with the DMV and local authorities. So we plan out our courses based on what we know first hand will be on the test. An advantage that most people that want to take the course at home won’t have. We are legally required to only sign off when you have completed the course. Why is this an advantage? It is an advantage because that means that you will be getting all of the practice driving hours in full!
I Have A Learner’s Permit From Another State
Unfortunately, learners permits from other states are not valid in the state of Connecticut. What also isn’t valid is a driver’s ed course that you may have taken elsewhere. We know that if you already took the course and the test it may seem a bit much to have to do it again. We are very sorry we don’t make the rules. What we can tell you is that you are required to hold a learners permit for at least 120 days before you can apply for a license.
Class & Practice Hours
We got all kinds of students at Bridgeport Driving School. Some are very confident in their driving ability and what they really fear is the written part of the exam. We can help them with the mandatory hours inside the classroom. If you put in the right kind of effort in the classroom we are sure you’ll be fine. Other students are less confident in their driving ability. That is what the driving hours are for. Our instructors will try and make sure that our students’ abilities are competent enough to handle the examination.
